The Woodlands in Texas was a master planned community developed in the early 1970’s and spans 27,000 acres about thirty miles from busy Houston, Texas.
This scenic town is an oasis in the Pine Woods region of the state and about a quarter of this area is designated as protected parks, green belts, hiking trails and forests and is home to about 75,000 residents. There are great schools, good shopping and a booming business economy. It’s one of the fastest growing communities in Texas and boasts a terrific greenbelt system where the environment is prospering.
The tourism here has the same appeal as for those making their permanent residence in this city. It is geared toward a lover of outdoor sports and leisure and there are over seventy different parks to experience. Also, there’s a two hundred acre lake here and golfers love this city for it’s lush golf courses. In fact, there are courses designed by both Arnold Palmer himself and also by the legend Jack Nicklaus. This city has hosted the PGA tour and been highly ranked in Golfer’s Digest. The Woodlands course is the only course that has had the prestige of having six courses.
For a fantastic experience, visit The Woodland’s Children’s Museum where children are admitted for free for museum exhibits and live storytelling. It’s a wonderful place for a family to spend the day. For live entertainment check out shows at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion where performing arts shows are held and the pavilion holds over 16,500 people for its’ various events.
This region is filled with beautiful accommodations and resorts for business or for pleasure and the Woodlands resort has the Forest Oasis Waterscape where families can spend the day in wet bliss enjoying a three-storey waterslide and other water attractions. Businesses from Houston and also from afar enjoy having their conventions and meetings in this quiet and serene area. Market Street is the city’s shopping district where you’ll find shops and entertainment and some excellent places to eat.
